The name Crossmax is synonymous with XC riding and racing. This new tubeless-ready wheel boasts many of the same features and technologies as premium XC race wheels, but at a more attainable price. One of the key factors is Mavic's UST technology, which allows for easy setup of tubeless ready tires and gives you all the associated benefits including better traction and control, a smoother ride quality and a reduced risk of punctures. The new rim design features a 22mm internal width with a hookless profile. The wheels are built with 24 straight-pull spokes to save weight and maximize wheel strength, so you get just the right balance of efficiency and durability. Power transfer is handled by Mavic's TS-2 freehub, which is compatible with all common axle standards. It’s available in Boost or Non-Boost hub widths and can be used with quick-release or thru-axle setups with optional adapters.
Years of analyzing wheels as a complete system, and testing them under the most demanding XC race conditions, has proven one thing: the reduced inertia of a superlight rim creates huge performance gains. That’s why Mavic engineered the Crossmax Elite with their lightest aluminum rim, the same one used in the Crossmax Pro. The rim is engineered with ISM 4D (Inter Spoke Milling) technology, which machines the rim between each spoke hole to minimize weight without compromising strength. The rim is wider (22mm internal) and features the UST tubeless system for improved traction, reduced risk of punctures and easier tire mounting. QRM hubs deliver smooth, long-lasting performance, and the fast-engaging ITS-4 freehub enhances the quick and dynamic feel. On the scales, the Crossmax Elite leads its category: 1635g in 27.5, and 1715g in 29. And it’s available in Standard (15x100 and 12x142, convertible to quick release) or Boost (15x110 and 12x148) hub spacing in 27.5 and 29 versions.
With a proven design and a new 22mm wide (internal) UST-welded rim that’s lighter without compromising strength, this wheel is for XC riders seeking the benefits of tubeless technology. The user-friendly UST system offers all the benefits of tubeless including better traction, comfort and a reduced risk of punctures. Built with 24 straight-pull, double-butted spokes to save weight and maximize wheel strength, you get just the right balance of efficiency and durability. Power transfer is handled by Mavic's alloy TS-2 freehub, which is compatible with all common axle standards. It’s available in Boost or non-Boost hub widths and can be used with quick-release or thru-axle setups with optional adapters.
It costs much more to build an XC wheel with carbon than aluminum, but racer feedback tells us the performance boost doesn’t always live up to the cost. That’s why Mavic engineered the Crossmax Pro Carbon to be significantly lighter and laterally stiffer than alloy, but to also have the same impact resistance and, most importantly, enough vertical compliance to achieve the ride quality synonymous with the Crossmax name. They pushed their exclusive Finite Element Simulation software to the limit to find a carbon layup that would best balance these attributes. To ensure compatibility with the most common XC tire widths (2.1 to 2.25), Mavic created a 23mm hookless rim profile for optimal performance. It is UST compliant for improved traction, puncture resistance and convenience, and the rim is sealed with specifically designed tape. Asymmetric rims balance the spoke tension, using 24 double-butted steel spokes to achieve that sweet spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. At only 1470g in 27.5'' and 1510g in 29'', the Crossmax Pro Carbon meets the demands of pro racers who have ridden them to World Cup podiums. The hubs are compatible with standard (15x100 and 12x142) and Boost dimensions (15x110 and 12x148).
Engineered with a wider rim that’s precisely machined for lighter weight and uncompromising strength, the Crossmax Pro elevates the XC experience—whether you’re racing, training or just shredding trails. With an internal width of 22mm and Mavic's patented ISM 4D technology, the rim provides a lightweight and dynamic ride quality. The ISM 4D process machines the rim between each spoke hole. This reduces weight without compromising strength, making it easier to climb and accelerate. The Zicral spokes and Isopulse (rear) lacing increase wheel stiffness for sharp, predictable handling. This is a fully tubeless UST system without the use of tape, making it easy to experience the benefits of tubeless, including better traction and fewer punctures. The system is compatible with quick release and 15mm thru-axle on the front, quick release and 12mm thru-axle in the rear. You can choose standard (15x100 and 12x142) or Boost versions in either 27.5-inch and 29-inch.
