Ksyrium Pro SL wheels take some of Mavic’s most weight-saving technologies and roll them all into one set of wheels. Their ISM 4D process aggressively removes Maxtal alloy material from the parts of the rim that undergo the least amount of stress, leaving material where the rim needs it most—at the spokes. The result is a rim with the same strength and stiffness, but drastically reduced weight. It also smooths the aerodynamic profile of the rim, helping you slip through the air relatively unnoticed. Mavic’s lightweight and aerodynamic bladed Zicral aluminum spokes keep the rotating mass even lower while offering a high strength-to-weight ratio. The stiffness and toughness factors are further increased both by the Fore integrated spoke nipples which screw directly into the rim, and by Mavic’s Isopulse lacing pattern that helps to even the spoke tension balance side-to-side while sending pedaling torque through the hub to the non-drive side, allowing rapid acceleration and greater rear wheel reliability. Incredibly smooth QRM+ bearings keep you rolling, fast and efficient, and Mavic included Yksion Pro tires that command the road with front- and rear-specific designs designed according to the specific qualities these tires individually require. Together the Ksyrium Pro SL wheels and Yksion Pro tires make a wheel-tire system that will carry you many miles with new-found speed, comfort, and control.
Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions:
An exclusive Mavic patented concept, ISM 4D significantly reduces weight and inertia without compromising durability. Quicker accelerations, better handling and more resistance: the right mix to make the most of any ride. The smooth profile also helps reducing aerodynamic drag.
Grip and control:
A front tire, whether a clincher or a tubular, must enhance the front wheel’s ability to grip the road and control the bike. Therefore, GripLink tires are optimized for front use by offering superior cornering grip and extra puncture protection.
Low rolling resistance:
A rear tire, whether a clincher or a tubular, must enhance the wheel’s ability to transfer power and generate speed. Therefore, PowerLink tires are optimized for rear wheel use by minimizing rolling resistance.
Force Transfer System Light:
Reinforcement of a key transmission component: the contact area between the pawl and the hub body is reinforced by two stainless steel inserts, which allows the use of a 100% aluminum hub body.
Stiffer and stronger:
Instead of being drilled for spoke nipples, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside and threaded to make it possible to directly screw the nipples into the lower rim bridge, eliminating the need to drill the upper rim bridge. Besides improving the nipple-rim interface, this design is ideally suited to tubeless tire setups and helps maintain rim integrity.
Optimum energy transfer:
The spokes are laced radially on the drive side and 2-cross on the non-drive-side to maximize drive-side dish, providing a better spoke tension balance between left and right flanges.
Qualité de Roulements Mavic + :
QRM+ is Mavic’s most demanding level of hub and bearing precision. It uses only double-sealed cartridge bearings with C3 internal clearances and features a system for making micro-adjustments to bearing preload.
Lightweight, stiff, and strong:
Zicral spokes are made of a specific aluminum alloy to achieve a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio while maintaining high strength.
Lightweight and strong:
Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy, allowing greater latitude in design while maintaining high strength and durability standards.
Soudé Usiné Process:
After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish, resulting in a stronger, smoother, more reliable rim joint.
Usiné Brut Control:
The rim’s braking surfaces are precisely CNC machined for smooth, predictable braking and less brake chatter.
